Nordic Automation Systems exits NORAnet to focus on the export of LoRa® products

NORAnet, founded by the Norwegian-Estonian sensor technology company Nordic Automation Systems and the Estonian IT and Communications company Levikom, is the first Internet of Things network provider in Estonia. NORAnet was established to fuel the growth and fast adoption of LPWAN technologies in Estonia.

This week Nordic Automation Systems sold all the remaining shares of NORAnet to the other founder Levikom. Exiting the local network operations business is part of the strategy for Nordic Automation Systems while focusing mostly on export markets as a LoRa® systems technology provider.

As a member of LoRa-Alliance™, Nordic Automation Systems provides end-to-end LoRaWAN™ – smart metering, smart monitoring and smart city solutions with their in-house manufactured LoRaWAN™ gateways and end nodes.

Nordic Automation Systems has its footprint in many countries and markets with its products in about 24 different countries around the globe.

Water utilities, governments and system integrators are increasingly researching more possibilities for “smart” metering, or advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), to water systems.
“We see a remarkably great demand for our LoRaWAN™ water meter sensor,” says Viljo Veesaar, the CEO of Nordic Automation Systems.

Today the LoRa® Water meter sensorLuminaire controller and some other products are in full series production to satisfy the demand.

Smart water metering is especially needed in areas with growing urban populations and increased agricultural production.
“We receive numerous inquiries from Australia, which is one of the driest continents in the world”, says Mr. Veesaar, “with increasing growth of population and huge amount of water usage in agribusiness, countries like Australia need innovative technologies and better understanding of their water usage to become more efficient with their water use.”

The company has sold LoRa water meter sensors and LoRaWAN™ outdoor gateways developed, designed and manufactured by them in every continent and continues to be a part of product supplier for many smart city projects around the world.
